  • Your tenant had an assured or assured shorthold tenancy that started before 1 May 2026
  • The tenancy is still ongoing (the tenant hasn't moved out)
  • The property is in the private rented sector in England

✗ You do NOT need to send this if:

  • Your tenant's tenancy started on or after 1 May 2026 (new tenancies)
  • Your tenant lives in social housing
  • Your tenant is a lodger
  • The tenancy has already ended before 31 May 2026
